THE WITNESS.

Following the historic Europa-7 encounter and subsequent research findings, command has authorized the commission of a commemorative artifact under Protocol 37-B.

Due to the implications of this discovery for all of humanity, this commemorative artifact will be made available for all citizens and U.S.C. personnel who wish to purchase a copy.

Please find additional information below.

COMMISSION RATIONALE:

In the words of the Admiral:

“The encounter on Europa-7 represents a confirmed contact with an unexplained cosmic phenomenon that may have significant implications for our understanding of human history. While research continues into the nature of this entity, the event itself deserves commemoration, particularly in light of Captain Reeves’ extraordinary experience.”

Admiral J. Reynolds,
Unified Space Command.

ARTIFACT SYMBOLISM:

The commemorative artifact faithfully depicts Captain Reeves’ encounter with the entity on Europa-7. The composition was created with Reeves’ direct involvement and accurately depicts the clouds and mountains of Europa 7, as well as the scale and texture of the anomaly.

Interior engravings reference the striking similarities to ancient human artwork discovered during our historical research, suggesting possible previous encounters.

The most noteworthy of these ancient human artworks was a cave painting, depicting what is unmistakably the Europa-7 anomaly above a group of prehistoric humans. They can be seen with their arms raised in what could be worship or a form of greeting.

The anomaly is depicted with concentric lines surrounding it. According to Captain Reeves, these were not visible during his encounter. He speculates they may be an artistic depiction of the psychological connection shared between observers and the orb.

The meaning of the second circle in the top left remains unknown. It may have simply been a depiction of the moon in the night sky. Research pending.

The cave painting linework was extracted from the cave wall and can be viewed below:

In the days following the discovery of this cave painting, the small icon in the bottom right has become a symbol for the orb. It appears to be a simplified depiction of the anomaly and is seen replicated in various locations within the same cave.

Unified Space Command has embraced this and now regards it as the official symbol for the anomaly. It can be seen engraved inside the ring.

Alongside cave paintings of what are almost certainly encounters between ancient humanity and the anomaly, handprints are often found on the cave walls.

These handprints have consequently gained somewhat of an association with the anomaly.

The handprint symbol acknowledges humanity’s oldest form of recording our existence. It is a universal statement that transcends language; “I was here. I existed”.

Using advanced engraving techniques pioneered by 21st century silversmiths, the hand print has been embossed with a texture reminiscent of a dolomite cave wall.

The phrase “The sky remembers us all” was famously spoken by Captain Reeves upon arrival of recovery team ALPHA, and has become emblematic of this historic event.

For this reason it was chosen as the secondary element to be engraved inside the ring. Visible from the front, alongside the Europa-7 scene. The anomaly iconography has also been engraved following the text.

Additional images of the ring are provided below. This commemorative artifact has been made available to all citizens.

Command would like to thank you for your interest in this monumental discovery.

Ad Astra.
