The first story told in silver, 2020
Origins
Mid-2020. The workshop was just a bench in my bedroom. The Eye of Horus wasn’t meant to start anything. It was just a ring I wanted to make. Ancient Egyptian symbol, clean execution, see what happens. But something clicked when I finished it. The idea that symbols could carry meaning across millennia, that a ring could be more than decoration. The first seed of what would become Stories in Silver.
Significance in the Studio’s History
This is where Urban Sterling began. Not with a business plan or brand strategy, but with a single ring exploring how ancient symbols translate to modern wear. The early Symbol Chapter grew from this piece, a collection focused on hieroglyphs, runes, and marks that survived thousands of years. Looking back, it was primitive compared to what came later. But without this first attempt at meaning-driven design, none of the philosophical depth that defines the brand would exist.
Design Notes
Low-profile signet featuring the Eye of Horus in raised relief. The hieroglyph sits clean against the face, no unnecessary ornamentation. Just the symbol that ancient Egyptians wore for protection, royal power, and good health. Originally made in sterling, now cast in 940 Argentium. Simple, direct, effective. Everything a first piece should be.
Why It Returns for The Vault
Retired in early 2025 after five years of continuous production. Bringing it back for these five days feels like showing where the journey started. The ring that asked the first question: what if jewellery could mean something more?
