THE 30-DAY FIELD TEST (RETURNS) I don’t believe in “unworn” returns. A ring is meant to be worn. Once your ring arrives, you have 30 days to test it in the real world. Wear it in the shower, the surf, and at work. If you haven’t bonded with the piece after a month of active duty, ship it back for a full store credit or exchange for a different design that feels right.
RESIZING Despite our best efforts with the sizing kit, bodies change. Every order includes one complimentary resize within the first 6 months. If it feels too loose in winter or too tight in summer, send it back. I will resize the fit and ship it back to you, free of charge.
THE ONE CENTURY PROMISE This is not a standard consumer warranty. It is a 99-year service agreement designed to keep this piece in circulation for generations.
SCOPE OF COVERAGE:
Structural Integrity: If the metal cracks, snaps, or fails due to a craftsmanship defect, I repair or replace it. End of story.
Surface Restoration: Silver is a living metal. If your piece accumulates decades of scratches or wear, ship it back to the studio. I will refinish, polish, and restore the surface to factory specifications,free of charge.
HEIRLOOM TRANSFER: The warranty travels with the metal, not the receipt. If you pass this ring down to your child in 30 years, the protection passes with it. As long as the “Urban Sterling” hallmark is visible, the contract is valid.
EXCLUSIONS: This contract covers the object, not the ownership. It does not cover theft or total loss.

PURPOSE: To weaponise the concept of impermanence. This ring induces a state of strategic nihilism. It’s a counter-measure against the paralysing fear of failure or judgement. By reminding the wearer that nature eventually erases all scoreboards, it removes the weight of legacy and grants the ultimate permission: the freedom to take massive risks, knowing that the consequences are only temporary.
USAGE: Worn to dissolve performance anxiety and perfectionism. A physical reminder that since nothing lasts forever, you are free to act without fear. Let’s be blunt: we’re all going to die soon. You might as well make it interesting.
STORY: Every empire believes it will last forever. The earth knows better.
On this ring’s face, a sword dissolves into leaves. Not metaphor, but prophecy. Look closer: metal shards scatter down one side while foliage climbs the other, and the space between them is more than either image alone.
This is Providence. The final word of the Abyssal Chapter.
The sword represents our greatest delusion: that what we build matters on the timeline that actually counts. We forge weapons, raise monuments, carve our names into stone, but the sapling knows what we refuse to accept. It will outlive every blade, grow through every monument, erase every name we thought permanent.
The earth watches our urgency with infinite patience. To her, civilisations bloom and wither like seasons. Our proudest achievements become her raw materials, our “forever” is her Tuesday afternoon.
Is this nihilism, or is it liberation?
When you wear Providence, you carry the most radical truth available: your insignificance is your freedom. The universe doesn’t care about your failures any more than your victories, the earth will reclaim both with equal indifference. This knowledge should make you wilder, not smaller; more willing to risk, to love, to build knowing it will fall.
The ring’s negative space serves as meditation, between sword and sapling lies the void where transformation happens. Where human ambition meets natural law and loses every time.
The only meaningful response to cosmic indifference is to live as if every second matters, knowing none of them do.
DESIGNER’S NOTES:
Sometimes you bash your head against an idea for weeks trying to make it work. Other times it just arrives fully formed.
This one came to me sitting on the rooftop of an old abandoned velodrome after school. The shape, the sword transitioning into the sapling, the split black-and-silver face. I saw the whole thing at once and sketched it in about ten minutes.
Made the first draft that week. Barely changed anything from the initial sketch, which almost never happens.
The split oxidation was the key: half polished silver, half black. It creates this stark division that really stands out.
Providence eventually became the best-selling piece I’ve ever made. If I had to pick one ring that defined the 2022-2023 era of Urban Sterling, it’s this one. Bold oxidised volumes, heavy symbolism, strong geometric shapes. Everything I was trying to figure out how to do, compressed into one design.
It’s the final piece of the Abyssal Chapter, the conclusion to everything that collection was exploring about impermanence and transformation. Seemed right that it would be the one that connected most with people.
I wear it regularly. Definitely still holds up.

STUDIO MADE
To ensure structural integrity and a perfect finish, every ring is filed, heat-treated, and polished in the Newcastle studio.
Cast in Sydney. Finished by hand in Newcastle.
Origin: Newcastle (Studio) > Marrickville, Sydney (Foundry) > Newcastle (Finishing).
Method: Lost-wax casting followed by a proprietary hand-finishing process.

19-STAGE FINISHING
Upon returning from the foundry, every piece undergoes a finishing process to harden the alloy and achieve my signature surface quality.
Phase I: Structural Preparation
01. De-sprue: Removal of casting feed channels.
02. Thermal Treatment I: Precipitation hardening.
03. Controlled Oxidation: Surface darkening with sulfur compounds.
Phase II: Surface Abrasion
04. Coarse Leveling: 100 grit reduction & filing.
05. Medium Definition: 240 grit sanding.
06. Fine Definition: 600 grit sanding.
07. Surface smoothing: Radial bristle disc abrasion.
08. Pre-Polish: 1200 grit honing.
Phase III: Highlighting & Hardening
09. Work Hardening and recess brightening: Magnetic pin tumble (Shot peening).
10. Satin Finish: 2500 grit sanding.
11. Relief Highlight I: Silicon disc abrasion.
12. Relief Highlight II: Fine silicon polish.
13. Micro-Burnishing: Hand-highlighting details with a graver (Microscope assisted).
Phase IV: Final Polish
14. Interior Polish: Rotary tool cotton mop + Dialux compound finish.
15. Exterior Polish: Jewellers lathe cotton mop + Dialux compound finish.
16. Surface Purification: Ultrasonic chemical cleanse.
17. Passivation (Thermal Treatment II): Formation of the germanium oxide protective layer.
18. Final Inspection: Macro lens quality control check.
19. Archive: Boxed and sealed.
