Origins

2020. Urban Sterling existed as an idea and a workbench. One of the first things I made wasn’t a ring to sell but a tool to certify them: a signet bearing “USCo” in reverse, designed to press wax seals. Every order would carry this mark. A promise in red wax that what you received was genuine, handmade, considered.

Significance in the Studio’s History

This signet has pressed over 3,000 seals. Every certificate of authenticity, every package that left the workshop, every piece of the Urban Sterling story carries its impression. While rings came and went, while designs evolved and chapters closed, this signet remained constant. The tool that turned a workshop experiment into something that could be verified, authenticated, trusted.

Design Notes

Simple circular face with “USCo” carved in reverse relief. No ornamentation or philosophy. A purpose built tool. The kind that improves with use, the edges softening, the face developing the patina that comes from thousands of meetings with hot wax. A working piece that was never meant to be worn, now recreated for those who understand that sometimes the most important objects are the ones that make everything else possible.
